Companies and individuals in the Australian security industry have been recognised for their hard work, excellence and innovation on a national and international stage, at the 2016 Security Awards.
The Australian Security Industry Awards for Excellence have been an initiative of the Australian Security Industry Association Limited (ASIAL) for 21 years. In 2015, ASIAL partnered with the World Excellence Awards to bring the global OSPAs program to Australia.
This year, they again shared a prestigious Awards Ceremony & Dinner at The Westin on 20 October 2016, in Sydney’s iconic Martin Place.

We are very proud to announce Ben Beville as a Finalist for the Outstanding Security Consultant Award.
Ben is our Risk Adviser and Electronic Applications Engineer at Southern Cross Protection. His ability to proactively and holistically analyse every client’s level of risk, think outside the box, and recommend intelligent solutions is second to none.
Ben ensures his solutions are based on the full spectrum of manpower and technology options, and when required, he engineers creative electronic solutions that will guarantee the customer’s best outcome for their budget.
Ben is able to identify the right solutions to the right problems, whether or not those solutions are standard industry practice, before he seeks out the efficiencies that will make those solutions effective, reliable and affordable for the customer. Ben is passionate about his customers, they are his number one priority, and because of that he has succeeded in establishing himself as a trusted security adviser for some of Southern Cross Protection’s largest customers, including the likes of Oracle and Woolworths Shopping Centres. He has also made Risk Advisory accessible to even the smallest customers, because he exemplifies the ideal that every customer is entitled to feel safe and secure in their environment, and every customer is deserving of the best possible security advice. Ben has continually challenged the status quo, not only within his company, but also within the industry.
With a keen understanding of his customers’ needs, he has been instrumental in developing Southern Cross Protection’s virtual patrols service offering as a way of leveraging state-of-the-art technology to offer his customers a suite of effective solutions that weren’t previously available. He also introduced his company to the notion of using Military Bearing and Israeli Behaviour Pattern Recognition techniques to up skill security officers, prevent assaults, prevent retail theft, and produce improved security outcomes. This initiative has helped shape the training of Southern Cross Protection’s security officers in the Loss Prevention space.
Leveraging his experience as a former officer in the U.S. Navy, Ben has gone above and beyond the call of duty and sought to take an active leadership role in shaping the future of our industry. Despite only being in our industry for less than one year, he has written three editorial articles published in Security Insider, challenging the status quo in an Anti-Terrorism series titled “Raising the Bar.” Through his writing, he has sought to promote within our industry the core values instilled in him through the military: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence In All We Do. He has also promoted the four pillars of capacity building as a way to make it attainable for Australia’s security industry to become the most highly skilled and professional in the world: Infrastructure, Domain Awareness, Training & Professionalism, and Response Capability. In this endeavour to raise the standards of our industry, he has fostered effective relationships with senior executives within our industry as well as NSW Police.
With his willingness to always learn and always do the right thing, Ben Beville has established himself as a role model for others to follow, bringing great credit upon himself, Southern Cross Protection, and the Australian Security Industry.
