We are very proud to announce Matthew Thomas as a Nominee for the Outstanding Security Officer Award.
Matthew Thomas has been an outstanding Security Officer in our business for over the past 3 years. He has worked across the Loss Prevention space and a number of Asset Protection roles assisting the initial setup of SOP’s, and worked with clients to ensure we have the best possible chance to enhance our service provision from day one.
Matthew has routinely put his hand up to cover shifts across all hours, and works well both in a team environment or by himself. Two months ago, Matthew was deployed to commence a 24/7 guarding platform at a large unused commercial premises that had no electricity or amenities for staff. The location had been vandalised over a period of months since the tenants had vacated. The very first day, Matthew took it upon himself to ensure that our team of guards had a clean and tidy workspace to position themselves across the 24/7 platform. Matthew did not have electricity nor cleaning products available for this task.
The administration building had been damaged with numerous amounts of broken furniture, and ceiling panels dislodged from the electrical wiring having been stolen from the property. Matthew cleaned the space up and moved furniture from other areas of the building to ensure a professional station was setup for the on-site guard in the knowledge that the client would have contractors attending during business hours to sign in and conduct repair work, and our staff would look professional in their approach whilst working in this difficult environment.
As a consequence of Matthew’s first day at this guard site, his concern for his fellow workers’ welfare, and the ongoing reporting provided daily to the client who is in Victoria, Southern Cross Protection have been given the opportunity to extend our services to an additional 13 locations in Brisbane.
A nomination for Matthew Thomas is well-deserving for going above and beyond in his role as a Security Officer.
