Most of us don’t change anything until we have a good reason, and a bad health scare can sometimes be just that.

Ken Duncan, our National Compliance Manager based in Perth, had a stroke recently and as you can imagine, that gave him, us and his family all a scare.

“Hey Ken. You need to slow down. Re-evaluate what you’re doing and really look at your life”, his friends and family would often say to him. He didn’t have any balance in his life; from food, work habits, fitness to family life, he was mostly under stress and never prioritised himself or his health.

But during his stay at the hospital, when he saw all the faces he had “let down”, he got a chance to reflect on his priorities, heath and his outlook on life. In those moments, he resolved to walk out of that hospital a changed person.

In today’s short audio podcast (~9 min), Claere Kay, our National Work Health and Safety (WHS) Manager, asks Ken to share his story with us.

Listen to his recollection of the most profound wake-up call of his life. Relive his experience, be inspired by his determination and grit, and learn exactly what changes he has made to bring himself back into alignment.

The Southern Cross Protection family is proud of you, Ken.
