We define a hero as a person who is admired for accomplishing a brave act or achieving something great.

More than a year ago, Southern Cross Protection’s Patrol Officer Nemani Rainibogi (“Norm”), deservedly earned this recognition in the Australian Security Medals Foundation Awards Night. Norm woke up the residents of a burning house and 16 other neighbours, while containing the fire the best way he could. He managed to save two lives despite one fatality.

On July 6th, 2015, this hero once again went above and beyond the call of duty when he was locking up Gazzard Park, Yagoona, at 10:22pm. A young man in his mid 20’s was found unconscious on the floor of a locked toilet cubicle. Norm couldn’t force open the cubicle door, so he grabbed and pulled a seemingly lifeless leg from underneath the door in the  hopes of waking him up. Despite the kind of scene that would normally make a person panic, Norm applied his security training to do everything in his power to bring this young man back to consciousness while waiting for Emergency Services.

Even though it only took five minutes for the Emergency Services to arrive, it was Norm’s actions that kept him alive at a critical time. Emergency Services diagnosed the young man’s condition as drug overdose, and the situation could have been fatal if it weren’t for Norm.

Southern Cross Protection is privileged to have a real life hero on our team. We salute Norm for his genuine care, dedication, and exemplary actions.

To the hero in each and every Southern Cross Protection Officer, keep up the great work!
