Whilst on his way to work, Patrol Officer Ray Gillin was travelling behind a Cash In Transit vehicle after it had just left its depot. As the CIT truck pulled out in front of Ray’s car, its rear door flung open and 4 large cash boxes dropped out of the back of the truck and landed on the road in front of him.

Ray tried to get the drivers attention by flashing his lights and sounding his horn, but he was unsuccessful and the truck drove off. Ray stopped his car, loaded the cash boxes in to his private vehicle and returned them to the CIT depot and explained what happened.

When he arrived at work he informed his Branch Manager of the incident, and a phone call was made to the CIT Company to ensure all was in order and OK.

Well done Ray for doing the right thing. Your actions are a fine example of the integrity of the officers we have at Southern Cross Protection.
