Three riders from Southern Cross Protection will take part in this year’s Tour de Cure around Tasmania from Nov 25th to 29th.

Tour de Cure’s Peter Mac Ride around Tasmania is a magical tour, bringing together an amazing group of people united in one goal – to cure cancer.

Each year, Tour de Cure organises tours and events across Australia to fund the pioneering cancer research, support and prevention projects that they believe will have the biggest impact on this devastating disease.

Since 2007, they’ve raised $40 million, funded more than 322 pioneering cancer projects and achieved 24 significant cancer breakthroughs.

Cancer takes a terrible emotional, physical and financial toll on those it affects. Nobody should have to face cancer alone. On every tour, they visit regional communities and donate $10,000 to local cancer projects because they’ve seen first-hand how much harder it is to access care and support away from major towns or cities.

In 2016, Tour de Cure teamed up with Peter Mac Foundation to create the Peter Mac Ride, driving a combined commitment to finding a cure for cancer.

To date:

  • Over $750,000.00 has been raised
  • 4 major Peter Mac research projects have been funded
  • $50,000 in local cancer grants have been donated
  • 5,230 kids in regional communities have taken part in the Be Healthy cancer awareness message

This year’s Peter Mac Ride will consist of:

  • 120 Riders
  • 4 Peletons
  • 30 Support Crew
  • Medical Support
  • 500km covered over 4 days
